A few weeks ago, Marcus Banner and roughly six thousand other students crowded into the university football stadium and were handed their hard-earned diplomas. Also packed inside the stadium, were thousands of proud families bored out of their minds, eagerly waiting as the ceremony got closer to the first initial of the last name of their loved one. Luckily for his stepfamily, they didn’t have to wait long to hear “Marcus Isaiah Banner” and watched as their stepson crossed the stage.For the first time in what felt like forever, Marcus had a summer off.
